Primary
People would be watching this film mainly in cinemas because of it being a new film when it first come out. The reason why the film ends up in cinemas first is because the people who have made the film like the director and more want audiences to watch the film without disruptions so they can get some reviews and sales without anyone having no focus on the film it will be a perfect experience for them. For the film to end up in cinemas the people who made the film know that it can be shown with the best quality it has available for audiences to be drawn into the film. For example say if it was 2001 there may of not been higher quality videos around like 1080p it might of been rare and most people would probably only see that in the cinemas because they pay to see the movie in its best moment as in going to the cinemas for the best quality.
Secondary
After the release of the movie being out in cinemas they have to bring it out on DVD and Blu-ray at first and it slowly starts to travel over to services like Netflix, Sky Cinemas and iTunes. Now if a film was going to be released it would probably launch on services and Blu-ray more than DVDs because Blu-ray is more modern and has better quality but if a new film like The Joker came out to digital services it would probably go onto The Sky Store and Playstation Store and maybe Microsoft Store but it will probably have a earlier release date on The Sky Store because it has exclusive releases all the time and its a service everyone uses. Sometimes the film could end up on TV its a cycle the older the film is the more likely its put onto TV for everyone and anyone to watch.
Privacy and illegal activity
A few months after the film gets released on online services, TV and more the film gets people recording and leaking the film by either using torrents which you can get from illegal sites or you can find a site which streams the film but if people download the movies they could have a risk of getting viruses and getting possibly hacked. People could also go into the cinemas and get the whole film on video but this only happens in countries like China. There could also be more risks now because there’s some coding within cinema films which make them more easier to leak for people who are smart and know how to leak the movie but its illegal.
